paper chains of memory....

I have been feeling overwhelmed lately....by nostalgia, by my own inabilities to FINISH WHAT I START, by a lack of patience, by a desire to be better and kinder, to make more of an impact......mostly, by a need to be creative, to PAINT again, to share and to tell the people I love and cherish that I do love and cherish them....I recently got a new tattoo after a 10 year hiatus, and I couldn't be happier....it is a bison on my left shoulder, and represents a great many things but mostly, it makes me feel safe, comforted, and strong....l love it!

Being newly inked, makes me want to put MY mark on something, so I will be revitalizing lyonsandfinch yet again.

This time, I will be focusing on single pieces with a lot of color, detail, and graphic interest. Little art pieces to give...I'm very excited to start!

darling so it goes

I am drafting save the dates and place cards for my cousin's wedding, and I am so thrilled and happy that she asked me. We weren't really close growing up, but now that we are adults, we've become friends, and its always wonderful when you can say your friends are your family and your family are your friends. Her husband to be and his family are great, and they will make lovely additions to our ever expanding clan....They live in the country, and are very outdoorsy, so it has been fun trying to come up with glam woodsy designs. I will post some pictures so you all can see how they turn out.

Anyway, making these items for her wedding, makes me want to make them for my own, even if I've been married in my heart for a long time now. I love my partner with all that I am, and aspire to make them happy in all I do. Love you sweetheart, so much. <3

winter on the air

It's beginning to smell like snow, and that puts me in a Christmas sort of mood. Yes, I realize it is not yet Halloween, but when its this cold, I can't help but think of snow and sugarplums! Christmas is easily my favorite holiday, everything is so bright and cheerful, full of promise. There is this rush to buy/make/give something heartfelt and thoughtful. Of course, all the fun paper crafts I want to make help bolster my excitement!
In addition to the usual Christmas cards, I think I am going to jump on the paper taxidermy wagon and make some cool reindeer sculptures, which will be fun if time consuming. I will also be making seasonal grapevine wreaths and paper chains, so I am going to busy, busy, busy!

I cant wait to share the fruits of my labors!
